Real Estate Wasn’t Always The Plan

In fact, I always told my sister she would make a great real estate agent.

I was never that child that had it all figured out and knew they wanted to be a doctor, singer or teacher from the age of 4. But, I knew fairly quickly that I was not cut out for a desk job.

As an active kid, with two entrepreneurial parents the 9-5 work life was never role modelled for me and not something I aspired to pursue. I wanted something I could be an active participant in creating and building my own business was always something I thought about, regardless of the industry I ended up in.

Whether that was opening my own restaurant or running my own clinic, I always wanted to be my own boss.

When I graduated from Western University with a degree in Kinesiology, I had plans to become an Occupational Therapist. I wanted to work with kids that had trouble regulating their behaviour at school and provide them with tools that would help them see success in the classroom.

I was drawn to this career because it gave me the opportunity to work with individuals, identify their needs and customize a plan that would help solve the problems they were experiencing.

Although, I did not end up pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy, I believe I was drawn to a career in real estate because it allowed me to accomplish the same goals - work with individuals, identify their needs and customize a plan to solve the problems they are experiencing.

It was my dad who first introduced me to the real estate industry. After talking to him extensively about investments, real estate investments in particular, I started to gain a keen interest in the topic. I was excited by the opportunities real estate could give people and I kept wanting to learn more. I started to realize that this new found passion for real estate coupled with my desire to help others may just be the perfect fit. So, I took the plunge to get my real estate license and haven’t looked back since.
